Sybil is a self-proclaimed numbers nerd that was born to help others with financial matters. At the age of five, she learned what a mortgage was. When her parents bought their first house, she asked “How much did it cost?” and “How do you pay for it?”, which initiated a discussion about borrowing money from the bank and what a mortgage was. This piqued her interest in money and savings, and is what shaped her future.
Her first entrepreneurial experience was setting up a lemonade stand, and a few years later delivering newspapers & babysitting at age 11. By age 15 she has her first real job working at a ladies clothing store, and at age 18 she talked her parents into selling their family home to purchase a 5-plex as a wealth building strategy to benefit them in retirement. By age 21 Sybil bought her first home and started saving for retirement.
Wanting to further her education and embark on a career in business and finance, she completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Victoria. After entering the financial services industry in 1994 and building up a successful Advisory practice, Sybil saw first-hand the common issues that people faced, but was limited on how many people she could help in a one-on-one capacity.
Dedicated to increasing financial literacy in Canada, Sybil was inspired to produce and host a national finance television talk show, to help individuals make smarter financial decisions. She currently holds the position of Executive Vice President at Raymond James Ltd., the leading independent Wealth Management firm in Canada, and oversees several divisions that support advisors in delivering an exceptional client experience.
As an advocate for gender equality, changing the status quo and empowering women to seize opportunities, Sybil authored a female empowerment book entitled “The Female Edge”.
Sybil is positive, optimistic and enthusiastic and believes you can accomplish whatever your heart desires. She is married to her soulmate and they have one son. They enjoy staying active, giving back to the community and living a life with purpose.
